Bob Dylan - Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Mama, take this badge up from me
I can't use it any more
It's getting dark, too dark to see
Feels like I'm knocking on heaven's door

Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door ...

Mama, wipe the blood from my face
I'm sick and tired of the war
Got that old black feeling and it's out to trace
Feels like I'm knocking on heaven's door

Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door ...

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them any more
Heaven's old black train is a-pullin' on down
Feels like I'm knocking on heaven's door

Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door ...

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ...

Mama, take this badge up from me

to steal sue's entry title.... LIFE ROCKS.

saturday lisa and i were up bright and early to pose as farmers at the farmers' market.  we got to the market at 7:30, set-up all of our garden produce, and started sellin'.  we had lots of funny times - "got anythin' a bunny would eat?," "i only eat chocolate chip and coconut cookies... nothing else, just chocolate chip and coconut... but they don't have coconut anymore... so i got a chocolate chip....," and "he died for your sins" (oh man...).... and how can i forget our song and dance routines?  "....named bob, and a... named bob... and .... named bob, bob, and bob...," and our award-winning smash-hit that went like this "we've got onions... and lettuce, and spinach... and lettuce, and chard (or is that kale?)... and lettuce.... and, um... more lettuce.  oh yah... did we mention we have lettuce?"  well... i think you had to be there to get the full effect.  we finished up a bit after noon, making lots of money... and definitely deserving of two high fives.

after some stops and a short rest back at my room, shana, lisa, audrey, and I were off to the envi sci party.  it was a lot of fun -- with lots of highlights.  i definitely liked the time when shana, lisa, bryan and i were paddling the canoe up the river for over 15 minutes... and still not even making it past the point where we began.  after we finally got past that point we had a nice ride.... until we had the brilliant idea of getting out of the canoe.  when we did brian took off w/ the canoe... which soon capsized.  while he floated down the river with a canoe underwater, we crossed the mighty rapids (umm... level 1?), and got wicked wet.

after we arrived on land we took a hike, came back, and then took another hike, this time w/ audrey to to watch the sun set.  it was awesome (though a bit smelly!)... thanks for all the laughs and cuddling guys... i am going to miss you guys tremendously.

afterward we hung out at the campfire... complete with lots more cuddling... and singing in the background ("my ding-a-ling....")

hmm, oh yah, and remember the chickens?

this weekend really made me thankful to have you guys in my life.  you mean so much to me -- i am going to miss the constant laughs, the crazy adventures, the bonding with each one of you, the cuddling, and the moments.  the moments will keep me hanging on until next time though... the awesome night on tome and the aimless wandering in carlisle (thanks lisa), the night at the treehouse (thanks sue and lisa), earthfest/jamnesty...and the bob marley festival, az and that side-room bonding (thanks shana), the fairie festival, and, of course, "the usual"... just to name a few on the top of my head... there are SO many moments though.  i love just looking back and smiling at the amazingness of the moments and of each one of you.

man, can't wait for next year.  have an amazing summer:  you guys will be in my heart.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

so these are two SUPER HAPPY feet...

they ran bare through flooded streets and intentionally jumped in puddles out in the downpour during one crazy amazing thunderstorm this afternoon.

by the way... those jeans are actually supposed to be light.  may take 3 months to dry 'em... but it was MORE than worth it. ... it was 100x more than worth it...
